Basics

Name: Bob Dylan Vaisey (yes, he’s named after Bob Dylan, and yes, he absolutely hates it)
Gender: male
Age/Birthdate: June 18, 2004
Sexuality: Bi
Blood Status: Halfblood
Animagi: Border Collie

Family/friends/relationships:

Father: Cassius (Cass) Vaisey – Halfblood, Slytherin, Auror, one year older than Harry. (deceased)
Mother: Emma Bladford – Muggle, four years younger than Cass. Dylan hasn’t spoken to her since he was 12 and ran away from Cass in order to go and see her. She didn’t want anything to do with him and he only tried once more, when he thought he was dying. He never actually spoke to her however, but rather realised that she's no longer family.
Sister: A Muggle girl named Sarah, he hasn’t seen her since he was 11 – when she was still a baby of only four months. He sometimes wonders what became of her but has never dared to find out.

Best friends: James Sirius Potter and Craig Lawson (from first year at Hogwarts)
Romantically: Dom (current girlfriend), Cassandra (used to date), Lorcan (ex-boyfriend)

Appearance:

Height: 6'

PB: Chad Michael Murray

Schooling/Occupation

House: Gryffindor
Year: Finished his NEWTs in 2022
Occupation: Order member (former Auror)
Other affiliations: Order of the Phoenix, Chaser for Gryffindor when in school

A little more in depth

Personality: Dylan’s personality is very determined by his poor relationship with his parents. He’s attention seeking, ambitious, and determined to never be like his parents (it’s ironic that he’s is so much like his father). He hates being by himself, but at the same time don’t trust anyone to stick around and so he tends to leave rather than being left whenever he risks getting emotionally attached to someone. He is restless, a person of action rather than contemplation and has a hard time being still for too long. He has a good heart and longs to feel as if he is apart of something. His dream is to one day have a family of his own – but he has trouble trusting that it could possibly happen, so he tends to keep his wish for himself. To his friends he's absolutely loyal, to everyone else he can be a bit of a jerk.

Special abilities/strengths/flaws: Animagus. He's intelligent, a good flyer and excellent at transfiguration and charms. He's crap at some of the more theoretic or patience requiring parts of magic, such as potions or ancient runes. (He worked his arse off in order to get the grades needed in Potions to enter Auror training, hating every moment of studying the subject)

Relevant backstory: Dylan’s parents met by chance one fall when visiting relatives (who turned out to know each other) and spent a week fooling around before going back to their ordinary lives. It wasn’t until months later that Emma, who wasn’t the brightest girl that ever walked the earth, finally realised that she was pregnant. By then it was too late to do anything about it, and in June Dylan was born.

Emma was a very reluctant mother, and Dylan grew up constantly starving for her attention, and he learnt early on that the easiest way to get it was to get in trouble. As a boy he got into fights, stole, vandalised and even tried pot, all before the age of eleven. Social services, teachers and even the police were a regular sight in the Bladford home and it was only made worse by the fact that strange inexplicable things seemed to happen around Dylan at times. When on his eleventh birthday these things were explained with the arrival of the Hogwarts letter, Emma reacted not with pride but with horror. That very evening she did what she’d threatened Dylan many times before, she drove him to the doorstep of Cass’ relatives and dumped him there with a bag of clothes and other belongings.

Cass had up until that day never been aware that he had a son, and the two got off to a rocky start. Dylan was angry, heartbroken and full of resentment, Cass completely unprepared for taking on responsibility as a parent. The situation was only made worse by the fact that Hogwarts was just around the corner. Dylan always felt as if he was being shipped off – again – and the two never got a chance to really get to know each other or bond before it was time for Dylan to leave. Cass tried his best, but found himself often reacting more as an Auror to Dylan’s antics than a parent, and summers and holidays were hardly enough time to make Dylan feel comfortable around him, especially as Cass always had to work and more often than not had to leave him or bring him along to the office. (the latter is of course if it is possible for him to do so)

Hogwarts however became something of a turning point for Dylan. For the first time in his life he wasn’t considered a freak, he was naturally good at some of the subjects and he got attention for the things he did right, rather than all the trouble he caused. He still got in more trouble than was healthy and spent an unusually large amount of time in detention, but over the years he calmed down and became more focused – especially after he decided to become an Auror. He denies vehemently that the decision has anything to do with his father, just as he always denies Cass having any sort of influence over his life.

Romantically he’s dated a fair bit, but runs at the first sign of a relationship. As much as he craves it, he fears it, and the only time he actually took the risk - dating Lori for three months - it ended spectacularly badly. He's wary about trusting someone like that again, still he's making the effort to with Dom. As long as they don't speak about it, it seems to work out fairly well so far.
